Oregon Wild Endorses Measure 3-568

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LAKE OSWEGO, Oregon – August 24, 2021 – LoveLOParks is pleased to announce that Oregon Wild has endorsed citizen-initiated Measure 3-568. Founded in 1974, Oregon Wild’s mission is working to protect and restore Oregon’s wildlands, wildlife, and waters as an enduring legacy for future generations.

“We’re really supportive of what you all [LoveLOParks] are doing…protecting the ecological value, public input, and public access with regards to Lake Oswego parks,” wrote Oregon Wild’s Development Director Jonathan Jelen. “It’s always inspiring when truly grassroots campaigns are built from the ground up and get momentum. So we definitely commend you and everyone else who has positioned this measure to where it is now.”

While Oregon Wild’s efforts predominantly focus on federal and state public lands and all of the myriad issues involved in their management and protection, they rarely take public positions on local park issues.

“We’re thrilled to received Oregon Wild’s endorsement. Their work and beliefs to protect and restore the natural world are closely aligned with our grassroots effort for Lake Oswego’s natural parks,” stated Scott Handley, LoveLOParks grassroots organizer. “This endorsement is a testament to the values our community holds so dearly for our local natural habitats.”

Citizen-initiated Measure 3-568 will appear on Lake Oswego voters’ ballots for the November 2021 election. Measure 3-568 needs to receive a majority vote and must receive more votes than the City’s competing Measure 3-575.
